A Standard Restroom Stall that is Wheelchair Accessible.
We offer any type or style of toilet partition your ADA bathroom layout needs. All materials are available and can ship quickly to your next job. Most jobs across the U.S. need an ADA stall, so it is important to understand the requirements of these products. All new construction and alterations are required to have an out swinging door that is no more than four inches from the corner diagonally from the toilet. The toilet in the stall must be offset on the back wall. It must be offset with its center-line 18" from the nearest side wall or toilet partition.
Horizontal grab bars must be mounted on the nearest side wall or partitions as well as behind the toilet.

OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER

Turning Space within the Stall
There is a minimum 60 inch diameter space to be considered when installing toilet partitions. Or a 60 inch by 60 inch T-shaped space that is perfect for pivoting a 180-degree turn with a wheelchair. This is required to allow wheelchair users to make U-turns within the ADA toilet compartment.

Unisex Restrooms
Not all restrooms are alike, in many cases, single user or unisex restrooms are on location. A single-user restroom cannot be used in new construction in place of making multi-stall restrooms accessible. Though, if you are altering an existing facility or location, single-user and unisex toilets are a reasonable alternative. In order to make this goal work though, an adequate amount of space for a side transfer from a wheelchair to the toilet must be allowed within the bathroom stall. These options for toilet partitions are becoming highly popular in office buildings throughout the country.

Urinals
ADA requirements for urinals can include stall-type or wall-hung. The urinal must have an elongated rim at a maximum of 17 inches above the restroom floor. A clear floor space 30 inches by 48 inches must be provided in front of the urinal. Keep in mind, this space must overlap an accessible route to the urinals. The flush valves, or controls have to be mounted no more than 44" above the floor.

Toilet Stall Paper Dispensers
Any toilet paper dispensers within the restroom stall have to be installed within reach. Any toilet paper dispensers that don't allow continuous paper flow cannot be used.

Toilet Compartment Doors
Any toilet stall door must swing outward. These toilet partition doors should be provided with closers, and/or spring hinges. Another option is a pull-bar mounted on the inside of the stall door near the hinge side. This is so people in wheelchairs can close the door easily. It is good to remember that the best method of allowing the door to close behind the customer, that meets ADA guidelines, are the spring hinges.
